Bowling tourney for primary schools

THE Petaling District Tenpin Bowling Association (PDTBA) will be organising an inter-team bowling championships for primary schools at the Sunway Megalanes on March 27.

The championships, the first event in PDTBA’s 2009 calendar, is limited to 30 teams only. The PDTBA president Loh Seng Kok said the championships would serve as a testing ground for schools to pick their teams for the coming district schools sports council meets.

“We understand that the schools are in the midst of their preparations for other age group competitions. And this inter-team championships will be an ideal one for the coaches and teachers to evaluate their players.

“We are also providing a platform for young players to get exposure. Due to logistic reasons we can only accommodate only 30 teams.

“To avoid disappointment, we urge the schools to register early with the entry fee,’’ said Loh.

The PDTBA have appointed school teacher Guanaseagarn Sammuel as the organising chairman for the championships.

Each team should comprise four players. It could be all boys, all girls or a mixed team.

But all the players must be from the same school.

All players must also be attired in their school sports attire. There is no limit to the number of teams from each school.

The top seven teams will be awarded with prizes while there will be prizes for the boy and girl with the highest score.
